Guidelines for Proposals Seeking OSC Financial Support

The Oregon Sheep Commission may provide funding to individuals or organizations for the purpose of industry-related projects designed to enhance the image of Oregon’s sheep industry and Oregon lamb and wool products, increase the demand for those commodities, increase knowledge regarding the healthful and useful qualities of these commodities, or to support research that benefits the production, processing, and marketing of Oregon lamb and wool products.

Commission funds can only be utilized for projects benefiting the industry as a whole. Commission funds should not be the sole funding source for any one project. While no minimum or maximum amount is suggested, please be aware the Commission’s resources are limited.

Proposals must be received in advance of initiating the project. Written requests are required; however, applicants are welcome to attend a Commission meeting and present their request in person. Please contact the Commission office to obtain the date of the next meeting.

Written proposal/application must include:

·         Name of the organization/individual requesting the funds, plus address, telephone, and e-mail. Identify the project coordinator, i.e. person to receive funds, sign contract if required, and submit final report.

·         Description of promotional, educational or research project to be conducted, whether it is a one-time or annual event, plus the project goals/objectives.

·         Amount of request, along with a budget for entire project, identifying funding sources, any income associated with the activity, and any anticipated profit/loss.

·         Outline of the message(s) associated with the project, sample of printed materials or ads to be used.

·         Explanation of how the promotional/educational message(s) will be communicated to target audience.

·         Explanation of how the Commission’s financial support will be acknowledged.

·         Description of how the success of the project will be evaluated.

·         If results are deemed successful and potentially useful to the industry, how will this information be conveyed to individual producers?

·         Timeline for completion of the project and submission of final report.

Final Report should include:

·         Narrative of the project’s completion, whether objectives were accomplished, and any results obtained through the project evaluation.

·         If possible, provide a quantifiable measure of the project results, i.e. number of participants, percentage of audience reached with the project message, amount of media coverage received.

·         Provide copies of printed materials utilized and/or photos illustrating how the Commission’s sponsorship was acknowledged.

·         Do the results indicate that further promotional/educational efforts or additional research would be beneficial?

·         Financial report summarizing total project and indicating how the Commission funds were utilized.

Note: The funding recipient releases the Commission from all claims or demands arising out of, or in connection with, the funded event/project.
