Oregon Sheep
Commission

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Oregon Sheep Commission (OSC) is to enhance the image of Oregon’s sheep industry and Oregon lamb and wool products, as well as to increase the demand for lamb and wool, increase public knowledge of the healthful and useful qualities of these commodities, and to support research that benefits the production, processing, and marketing of Oregon lamb and wool products.

To fund these activities, the Oregon Sheep Commission places an assessment on the sale of wool in the grease basis, currently .025 cents per pound for wool sold through commercial channels. The assessment funds collected by the Commission may be used to support individual projects benefiting Oregon’s sheep industry.

Individual producers or organizations may submit a written request/proposal for funding to help support a research or educational project, promotional activity, or special event promoting Oregon’s sheep industry.

The Commission provides guidelines for written requests/proposals. Please review the document titled OSC Funding Application.

Please contact the OSC office for information about the next Commission meeting or if you have questions about the application process.
